Rombauer Chardonnay was first released in 1982. The fruit for this wine comes from vineyards in the Carneros region owned by the Rombauer family, where the San Pablo Bay meets the southern end of the Napa and Sonoma valleys. The cool climate and specific soils of this region provide ideal conditions for this quintessential Carneros Chardonnay with the Rombauer hallmarks of intense fruit flavors balanced by fresh acidity.
The grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed while the fruit was still cool. The juice was pumped to the tank to cold-settle overnight before it was racked to the barrel for primary and malolactic fermentations. The lees were stirred every two weeks to give the wine rich flavors and a creamy texture.
Aroma: Yellow peach, melon, and chamomile, all framed by freshly baked pie crust.
Palate: Nectarine notes are fresh on the taste, followed by spice and energetic acidity.
Finish: It leaves you to have another sip.
